主讲人：Donald Lien (连大祥)  美国德克萨斯大学圣安东尼奥分校刘尚俭首席荣誉商学教授

主讲人介绍：Donald Lien (连大祥) 博士现任美国德克萨斯大学圣安东尼奥分校刘尚俭首席荣誉商学教授，同时是该校金融学和经济学教授。之前他曾任该校助理副校长兼任孔子学院院长及商学院副院长，多年主管东亚及国际事务。Lien教授还曾担任经济系研究生主任、系主任、商学院国际商业部主任及东亚学院院长等职。Lien教授的研究领域涉及金融学、经济学及统计学，近期主要关注贸易、文化和中国问题。Lien教授现已在国际重要期刊上发表论文200余篇，目前担任多个经济学和金融学杂志的编委。他的论文发表在Journal of Econometrics、Journal of International Economics、Journal of Development Economics、Journal of Population Economics、Economics of Education Review、Journal of Banking and Finance、Journal of International Money and Finance和International Review of Economics and Finance等杂志上。Lien教授还获得过多项教学及科研奖励。另据澳洲亚太证券业研究中心（SIRCA）的资料统计，以2001-2005年在十九个主要的国际金融期刊发表文章的加权数计算，Lien教授排名世界第一。

Abstract：This talk highlights the importance of language in individual decision-making process and the associated outcomes.  To be specific, Prof. Lien will discuss recent literature on economic effects of language (and culture), followed by suggestions of future research directions.  Finally, Prof. Lien will illustrate the importance of language with his work on Confucius Institutes and international cross-listing.
